Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan Governor Muhidin reviewed the construction progress of Pulau Laut bridge, spanning about 3.75 kilometers, which connect the Kotabaru Regency with the mainland in Batulicin, Tanah Bumbu Regency.
“We see work from the Batulicin side towards the central section,” he said in Batulicin, as reported on Wednesday.
At the site, he was informed that the construction on one section has reached around 1,000 meters. Spacing between the pillars is about 50 meters, forming part of the structure currently under construction.
The Governor had a direct dialogue with supervisors and contractors to find out the progress made by the various business entities involved in the construction of the Pulau Laut Bridge.
“We are reviewing the work being carried out by BIPI, BasKita, and BBA. We want to see firsthand the progress of BIP’s work at this site,” he stated.
The construction of the Pulau Laut Bridge is divided into several work packages. On the Batulicin side, a section spanning approximately one kilometer is being executed by a consortium comprising PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP), PT Waskita Karya, and PT Borneo Berkah Abadi (BBA).
The construction is targeted for completion in 2028, so it can be functioned in 2029.
The project is valued at Rp7.95 trillion, funded through synergy between central and regional goverments, including APBD (regional budget) support from the governments of South Kalimantan, Tanah Bumbu, and Kotabaru, and multiyears budget of Public Works Ministry.
In terms of construction, the main bridge uses a cable-stayed structure with two pylons approximately 100 meters high and a main span of about 505.5 meters. The project also includes the construction of box girder structures, pile slabs, and approach roads on both sides of the bridge.
To facilitate connectivity to the bridge, approach roads are being constructed, spanning approximately 1,500 meters on the Batulicin side and 1,250 meters on the Kotabaru side.
These works are important part to ensure that the bridge does not only stand as a standalone structure but is integrated with the road networks of both regions.
Synergy between the central and regional governments is key to the execution of this project.
